Bali is known as an island with thousands of temples. Each village has at least 3 main temples; Pura Puseh, Pura Bale Agung, Pura Dalem dedicated to the 3 highest Gods; Brahma, Wisnu, Ciwa. Each family has their own family temple. Temples are also built by group of people from the same occupation. Farmers with Pura Ulunsuwi, Teachers/Students, Traders they are all having each temple for respected Gods.
There are also 10 temples based on 9+1 directions which each Gods are respected on each of them. These temples are considered an old temples followed by all Balinese Hindus. You can find 5 main biggest temples in east Bali.
- Besakih temple, known as the mother temple of Bali is the biggest temples complex located on the slope of Mt. Agung. This is a beautiful temple complex with multi roofs Meru shrines, magical setting and multi steps huge decorated gates.
- Lempuyang temple (Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang), located on the top of Bisbis Hill dedicated to God Iswara. Lately Pura Penataran Agung Lempunyang become the most visited temple in East Bali for its most instagramable Split Gate back grounded by the volcano
- Pura Silayukti, located near Padangbai Harbour with beautiful view of the Indian Ocean
- Pura Andekasa, located not far from Pura Silayukti dedicated to the God Brahma
- Pura Goa Lawah, known as the bat cave temple built in the front of Bat Cave become most important temple beside Besakih Temple in relationship with a cremation ceremony.
